What is BACIC?

BACIC (Beverage Alcohol Community Information Council) is the restaurant, bar, hospitality and tourism sectors coming together with a collective voice for Arizona’s beverage alcohol industry through education, advocacy, public awareness and community outreach.

We are composed of Arizona companies and trade groups who share a common interest in providing information to Arizona communities about beverage alcohol issues. BACIC seeks to ensure that underage persons do not consume alcoholic beverages and impress upon adults the importance of treating alcohol products responsibly and in moderation. Represented in the ranks of BACIC are restaurants and bars, retail stores, distributors and suppliers, sports and social clubs, hospitality and tourism groups, and others who support its mission.

Beverage-Alcohol Community Information Council Awarded Grant Funds from GOHS For Underage Drinking Prevention Campaigns

(Phoenix, Arizona) – Beverage Alcohol Community Information Council (BACIC), has been awarded $90,000 in grant funds from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for its fourth year in a row to support underage drinking prevention programs, such as Own Up and Raise The Bar.

BACIC’s Own Up campaign challenges Arizona parents, teens, schools, and our entire community to work together to bring awareness and education about the concerns and consequences of underage drinking to all our Arizona youth. Through school presentations, leadership conferences, community activities and events, social media contests and peer-to-peer interaction, Own Up challenges youth to “Take the Pledge” and say NO to underage drinking. Through Own Up, BACIC seeks to ensure that underage individuals are provided information, education, and resources regarding the choices and consequences of drinking alcohol before the legal age of twenty-one; impresses upon adults to drink responsibly and not contribute to the drinking of minors; and encourages parents, guardians and educators to take ownership in talking with our youth about underage drinking.

Raise The Bar is a motivational and empowering program that recognizes participating liquor-licensed establishments for reducing and eliminating the concerns surrounding alcohol consumption in their communities and neighborhoods. This program offers discounts on training, resources and informational materials to its participants, to help establish and sustain a safe and responsible environment for patrons, staff and local neighborhoods. Participants are eligible to be recognized through our program if they meet certain qualifications and requirements for establishments playing their role to reduce any concerns with alcohol consumption, especially contributing to minors and underage drinking.

BACIC seeks to promote community awareness and information about issues in Arizona related to the alcohol industry. The council works to ensure responsible and lawful consumption of alcoholic beverages, and to recognize the role that hospitality establishments play in the Arizona tourism sector and economy. The Arizona beverage-alcohol industry recognizes the need for safe and responsible alcohol behaviors and hopes to work with the community, schools, families, parents and kids to make a positive impact with this industry sponsored campaign.
